How Axiologik Celebrates the Big Green Week!

As the Great Big Green Week begins, I’m reminded of the incredible community spirit that fuels the UK’s biggest celebration of action against climate change and for nature protection. Every year, I see people from all walks of life come together, unleashing a wave of support for protecting our planet. It’s inspiring to witness tens of thousands of individuals from every corner of the country celebrating the brave, everyday actions taken to stand up for nature and combat climate change.

At Axiologik, I’ve always taken pride in our efforts toward a more sustainable future. For us, cutting emissions and embracing the circular economy isn't just about the bottom line—it resonates with our own ethics and values. Keeping efficient devices running longer and reducing waste simply makes sense, both financially and morally.

Last year, we set an ambitious goal: to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2031. Since then, we’ve made significant progress with actionable steps. We’ve created a network of electric vehicle charging stations, ensured our stationery is eco-friendly, reviewed our waste management suppliers to ensure our supply chain is aligned and launched a cycle-to-work scheme where employees can take advantage of a salary sacrifice arrangement to obtain a new bicycle.

With our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint well underway, we want to continue empowering our employees to help tackle the climate crisis, which is why the operations team at Axiologik has launched some great initiatives to raise money for eco-friendly charities, tackle climate change, and celebrate The Big Green Week.

So what are we up to this week?

Reducing Emissions

We are fortunate to have a car park on-site at Axiologik HQ, but did you know that transport is responsible for 26% of greenhouse pollution according to The Times newspaper? Any employee who wants to use the car park must donate £5 to Love Leeds Park.

Encouraging Public Transport Services

One way to contribute to nature conservation and help tackle climate change is to use more public transport services. Greater utilization of public transport over personal vehicle use is one of the best ways to reduce emissions and help save the environment. So, we’re encouraging our employees to walk, use public transport, or cycle to work for the week, with a prize incentive.

Introducing a Carbon Footprint Calculator

As part of our commitment to sustainability and community engagement, we at Axiologik are excited to launch a new initiative in line with the Great Big Green Week. We’re encouraging everyone to calculate their carbon footprint and share their scores. For each shared score, Axiologik will donate £5 to Love Leeds, supporting local environmental initiatives.

Education and Raising Awareness

At the heart of a sustainable transformation is the extraordinary power of people. That’s why throughout the week, we are providing Iam learning courses. By equipping our teams with the knowledge needed to navigate sustainability challenges, we can play a pivotal role in shaping a more sustainable future. Whether it's through initiatives focused on environmental conservation, ethical business practices, or social responsibility, we can leverage learning and development as a force for positive change.

As we continue with this year’s Great Big Green Week, I feel proud to be part of a community and a company that truly believes in the power of collective action. Together, we are making a tangible difference, one step at a time.
