The Axio Showdown: A Fresh Take on Tech Events

If you've heard of Axio Showdowns, you'vemost likely seen our posts inviting you to join us for an evening of fun, learning, and friendly competition. But what exactly are these Showdowns, and why are they different from the usual tech events?

When considering a typical tech event, you’re likely to imagine panel discussions, PowerPoint presentations, hackathons or technical masterclasses/workshops. These events are valuable and often come with networking opportunities, but they'rerelatively predictable. While you can learn a lot, they sometimes lack that spark that brings people together.

At Axiologik, we wanted to reinvent traditional tech gatherings and offer something completely different—something that brings our passion, expertise, and humour to life. We wanted to create a fun, laid-back environment where people could laugh, learn, and collaborate in a fresh and engaging way.

So, what is an Axio Showdown?

Great question! These events are game show-themed, where we mix quizzes, question rounds, practical challenges, and plenty of comedy. Audience participation is critical; the spontaneous, unscripted format means anything can happen. We want to offer an inclusive environment and ensure attendees leave with valuable insights and new connections.

This gameshow-like event aims to create a space for tech professionals across Leeds—regardless of sector or speciality—to come together in a casual, interactive environment. It aims to build an educational, collaborative event that is entertaining and has a real sense of community.

Our First Showdown: A Hilarious Success

Our first Showdown centred around the popular TV show 'Would I Lie to You.' Participants shared stories and had to guess which were true or false. The event was full of laughter and gave everyone a chance to reflect on how we can handle challenges and solve problems in sometimes highly regulated and pressured environments.

When is our next event?

Our upcoming Showdown is on 20 November and is based on the popular TV shows ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ and ‘Have I Got News for You’. We'll discuss some of the most well-known digital transformations of 2024, dive into their failures and successes, and examine what we can learn from them—all in a fun, interactive format with humour.

Expect lively debates, audience involvement, and laughs as we explore the challenges and victories of digital transformation in a completely different setting.
